INTERNATIONAL HEMP CONGRESS
Natura Matéria participated in the 1st international congress of Hemp in the Azores, at Associação Agrícola de São Miguel, on the 3rd of October, together with other speakers from Portugal, Canada, Italy, Cavo Verde, Angola and the USA. The theme of the presentation was “Modern Perspective on the Use of Hemp Concrete in Construction”.
In summary, hemp concrete is considered to have unique characteristics to be used as a bioconstruction material, a product with a negative carbon balance and with immense potential for application in prefabrication.
It is recommended a greater massification of the industrial culture of hemp in Portugal and islands, including its processing to obtain shavings and fibers, in order to boost the national supply and thus reduce the negative impact associated with its transport of raw material from countries Europeans.
